Pa. — The GIANT Company is expanding its healthy eating habits while using the medications for weight management.

“As more customers turn to GLP-1 medications as part of their health journey, GIANT and MARTIN’S pharmacists and dietitians are helping them navigate what comes next,” said Nick Koch, director of pharmacy and wellbeing at The GIANT Company. “Whether looking for protein-rich meal ideas or weight management with GLP-1 medications, our wellbeing team members are available every step of the way to both inform and help our customers shop with confidence.”

The expansion comes amid growing use of GLP-1 medications. The company cited a July 2026 Gallup National Health and Well-Being Index survey showing that about 11% of U.S. adults reported actively using a GLP-1 medication for weight loss, up from 3% in 2024.

GIANT said all GIANT and MARTIN’S pharmacies are participating in the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program offered by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. According to the company, the program gives eligible Medicare Part D patients access to certain GLP-1 medications for weight loss and weight management through Dec. 31, 2027, with a $50 copay. Customers should consult their healthcare provider about eligibility and obtaining a prescription.

The retailer’s October Talk & Tours will focus on nutrition for GLP-1 users. The free, one-hour sessions will cover selecting protein-rich, fiber-rich and nutrient-dense foods, and will include recipe ideas and product samples.

Six tours are scheduled at Pennsylvania GIANT stores: Oct. 6 at 10:30 a.m. in Hummelstown and 6:30 p.m. in West Chester; Oct. 8 in York; Oct. 13 in Camp Hill; Oct. 15 in Gettysburg; and Oct. 20 in Willow Grove. The latter four sessions begin at 10:30 a.m. Space is limited, and registration is required.

The company will also host free “Living Well” virtual classes each Wednesday in October with a GIANT or MARTIN’S dietitian or pharmacist. Topics will include healthy eating, managing side effects and nutrition strategies to support customers taking GLP-1 medications.

Customers can earn 50 CHOICE points for each virtual class attended by providing their GIANT or MARTIN’S card number and state when joining. Points will be awarded during the first seven days of the following month, with participation limited to one account per class.

Schedules and registration for the store tours and virtual classes are available at giantfoodstores.com/wellbeing.
